چکیده

A resonance-induced change in the resistivity of the surface state electrons (SSE) exposed to the microwave (MW) radiation is observed. The MW frequency corresponds to the transition energy between two lowest Rydberg energy levels. All measurements are done with electrons over liquid He in a temperature range 0.45−0.65 K, in which the electron relaxation time and the MW absorption linewidth are determined by collisions with helium vapor atoms. The input MW power is varied by two orders of magnitude, and the resistivity is always found to increase. This effect is attributed to the heating of electrons with the resonance MW radiation. The temperature and the momentum relaxation rate of the hot electrons are calculated as a function of the MW power in the cell, and the Rabi frequency is determined from the comparison of the theoretical result with the experiment. In addition, the broadening of the absorption signal caused by the heating is studied experimentally, and the results are found to be in good agreement with our calculations.

Microwave Absorption of Surface - State Electrons on Liquid 3 He

We have investigated the intersubband transitions of surface state electrons (SSE) on liquid He induced by microwave radiation at temperatures from 1.1 K down to 0.01 K. Above 0.4 K, the transition linewidth is proportional to the density of He vapor atoms. This proportionality is explained well by Ando’s theory, in which the linewidth is determined by the electron vapor atom scattering. Howeve...

Imidazolium Chloride Immobilized Fly Ash as a Heterogenized Organocatalyst for Esterification Reaction under Microwave Irradiation Heating

An efficient solventless one-pot procedure for the synthesis of imidazolium-based ionic liquid under microwave irradiation is described in which 1-methylimidazole was modified by organosilane (3-chloropropyl triethoxysilane). This ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-[(triethoxysilyl)propyl]imidazolium chloride (TMICl) is immobilized on Mechanically activated Fly Ash (MFA) by co-condensation method to d...

Electron Cyclotron Heating in the Constance 2 Mirror Experiment* Electron Cyclotron Heating in the Constance 2 Mirror Experiment

Electron cyclotron heating of a highly-ionized plasma in mirror geomctry is investigated. Of primary interest is the experimental diagnosis of the elcctron energy distribution and the comparison of the results of this diagnosis with a two dimensional, time-dependent Fokkcr-Planck simulation. 'Tliese two goals are accomplished in four steps. (1) First, the power balance of the heated and unheate...

Resonant correlation-induced optical bistability in an electron system on liquid helium.

We show that electrons on liquid helium display intrinsic bistability of resonant intersubband absorption. The bistability occurs for comparatively weak microwave power. The underlying giant nonlinearity of the many-electron response results from the interplay of the strong short-range electron correlations, the long relaxation time, and the multisubband character of the electron energy spectrum.

PFC / JA - 96 - 39 ICRF Heating Scenarios on Alcator C - Mod

Successful high power ICRF heating of L-mode and H-mode plasmas has been performed in the Alcator C-Mod tokamak with up to 3.5 MW of RF power at 80 MHz. Efficient absorption (90-100%) of the RF power was observed for D(H) heating at 5.3 T (here the minority ion species is indicated parenthetically). Lower single-pass absorption experiments were also performed in D(3He) at 7.9 T, D( 2 13He) at 4...
